Tree By-law

The Professional Foresters at Silv-Econ Ltd. have provided expertise on forest conservation by-law matters for Municipalities and Counties since 1998. Our work related to these projects include:

  • Reviewing and auditing of proposed and/or completed harvest activities​ to determine compliance with by-laws
  • Preparation of reports for submission to a court of law
  • Expert testimony in a court of law
  • Development of mitigation plans

Tree Preservation and landscape Plans

We have extensive experience preparing tree preservation plans for urban developments and road construction. Our core business also includes Natural Heritage Evaluation and reports for those planning development on the Oak Ridges morraine. These projects can include tree inventory & health assessment, review of engineering drawings & grading plans to identify potential impacts, designing tree protection measures, determining compensation for impacted trees, and monitoring during & after construction. Examples of our work include:

  • Natural Heritage Evaluation reports for development submissions on the Oak Ridges Moraine (required by Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan)
  • Preparation of an ​afforestation guidebook (York Region)
