Helen Sereda
I have been painting for about 14 years now. I initially learned how to paint by watching Bob Ross episodes, and I continue to use many of his techniques still. I have a passion for colour and seeing beauty in an everyday scene. I have been involved with forestry for 9 years, and I use the inspiration I find outside to fuel my art. I have gained an extensive knowledge about Ontario’s forests, our tree and plant species, and the rich history behind our land. I base some of my art around the realistic patterns of Ontario forestry. I use art to bring the beauty of nature into the places we enjoy. I strive to showcase how inspirational nature can be, and how important our natural landscapes are.

Our forests play such an integral role in our lives. Silv-Econ appreciates how important our natural landscapes are, and is proud to showcase local artists who also value our forests and ecosystems. Art focused on nature brings a sense of calmness and serenity. Through viewing this art we link ourselves to the special landscapes we experience, and generate feelings of nostalgia and happiness.

I've been dabbling in painting for a couple of years now, but recently have spent more time at the easel.
My interest is natural landscapes - I frequently work from photos taken on hiking or canoe trips. Being an entomologist, I often see things at a micro-level, so many of my paintings are more of a portrait style - my favourite subject being trees!
I love acrylics for their bright and bold colours, and the drama they bring to a composition.
Here are a few of my favourites from the last couple of years. To see more of my work, or to contact me, find me on Instagram: _kathleen_ryan_
